## What to paste

Each protocol takes what its own app takes.

### A share link

The link your users import, starting vless://, vmess://, trojan://, ss://, hy2:// or tuic://.

- VLESS
- VMess
- Trojan
- Shadowsocks
- Hysteria2

### A config file

Paste it or upload it. OpenVPN also asks for the username and password.

- WireGuard
- AmneziaWG
- OpenVPN

### A host and login

There's no file to paste: load the example, then type the server's host, username and password.

- OpenConnect

## Questions

### Is it free?

Yes. There's no sign-up and no card. Each IP address gets 5 tests every 24 hours, and every request counts, including one refused for a bad config.

### Do you keep my config or password?

No. They're used for one handshake, then discarded. We don't log config contents, usernames, passwords or private keys, only the protocol, the server's address, your IP address and how many free tests you have left.

### What does the result show?

Whether the handshake worked, how long the connection and the round trip took, the address the server gave the tunnel and, when it fails, the reason the checker saw. Copy share link gives anyone the same result.

### Why can't I test a local address?

The free tester refuses loopback and cloud metadata addresses, and a host that doesn't resolve publicly. Signed in, the API can test them.

### How is this different from monitoring?

This page runs one handshake when you ask. Monitoring runs it on a schedule for every server you have, keeps the history, and alerts you when a server is confirmed down. Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial; see [pricing](https://tunnelhq.com/pricing/).
